Our Story
Motorcycle Routes Guide started the way most good ideas do—out of frustration. Back in 2018, I was planning a two-week tour through the Alps and spent hours digging through forums, outdated blogs, and incomplete route descriptions. Some passes had been closed for years. Others were described as "easy coastal rides" but turned out to be technical mountain roads with 300 hairpins and no guardrails.
That trip taught me a valuable lesson: the best road isn't always the famous one, and good information is worth its weight in gold. I started documenting every route I rode—fuel stops, photo spots, road conditions, the cafes where locals actually eat. What started as personal notes became this website.
Who We Are
Our small team includes riders from different backgrounds—sport touring enthusiasts, adventure bike overlanders, and weekend canyon carvers. We've ridden everything from a 40-year-old airhead BMW to the latest adventure bikes. This diversity means we understand that "best road" means different things to different riders.
The detailed guides combine first-hand riding notes with trusted rider feedback, map review, official road information and destination sources. Short route summaries remain works in progress until they receive the same editorial treatment; they are kept out of search results until that review is complete.
Our Approach
We rate routes on factors that actually matter to motorcyclists: road surface quality, traffic levels, scenery, and technical challenge. But we go beyond simple ratings. We tell you which direction to ride (because that hairpin series is much more fun heading north), where to stop for fuel before you hit a 100km stretch with nothing, and which viewpoint has parking big enough for a group.

Safety First
We love a good twisty road as much as anyone, but we're not here to encourage reckless riding. Our difficulty ratings are honest—when we say a road is challenging, we mean it. We include safety notes about blind corners, wildlife crossings, and sections where the locals tend to drive faster than you'd expect.
We also believe in riding within your limits. A Stelvio Pass veteran might find the Transfăgărășan easy, while someone on their first Alpine tour might find it demanding. There's no shame in taking breaks, riding at your own pace, or choosing a less technical route.
Community-Driven
The best tips often come from fellow riders. We encourage route submissions and actively incorporate feedback from our community. Found a new cafe that does great coffee and has secure bike parking? Let us know. Noticed road construction that's not on any map? We want to hear about it.
This is an independent rider resource. First-hand experience shapes the advice, while details such as closures, access rules and seasonal restrictions are checked against current sources.
