Motorcycle Routes Guide is built for riders who want trustworthy, practical information before they twist the throttle. This page explains exactly how our content is created, reviewed, and kept up to date — and what you can expect from us as a reader.
Who writes our content
Every guide on this site is produced by riders, not anonymous content writers. Our editorial team has logged hundreds of thousands of kilometres across Europe, Scandinavia, the Alps and the Balkans on touring, sport, and adventure bikes. We bring different riding styles to the table on purpose — what feels easy on a 1290 Adventure can feel demanding on a 650 twin, and we try to write for both.
Author bios appear on guide pages and on the dedicated author page.
How we research a route
A route may first appear as a short planning summary. It becomes an indexable, fully developed guide only after an editor adds a route plan, road-character notes and a dated review. We use one or more of these sources:
- First-hand riding by a member of our team.
- Verified rider submissions with enough specific detail to be cross-checked.
- Cross-referencing local road authority data, official pass-opening calendars, and recent rider trip reports.
- Map and satellite review for stop spacing, fuel availability and surface character.
We do not scrape or republish other route directories. Where first-hand notes are incomplete, we say so and use official sources for practical facts rather than presenting research as a ride report.
Updates and accuracy
Mountain passes close. Fuel stations shut. Roads get resurfaced — or torn apart by landslides. We re-review high-traffic routes at least once per riding season and update opening dates, hazards and stop information as we learn about changes. Each major guide carries a "last updated" date so you can see when it was last touched.
Even so, conditions on the day always win. Always check local sources before you ride a pass or remote section.
Corrections
If you spot something wrong — an outdated fuel stop, a closed road, a difficulty rating that doesn't match reality — please tell us via the contact page. We take rider corrections seriously and update affected pages, usually within a few days.

Some pages on this site contain affiliate links — usually for gear, accommodation or rentals. If you click through and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That income helps keep the site running, free to read, and independent.
We never let affiliate relationships influence which routes we recommend or how we rate them. A road is either worth riding or it isn't. If a product gets recommended on this site, it's because we've used it or trust the riders who have.
Use of AI
We use software, including AI tools, for research support, outlines, comparison, spelling and editing. AI output is never treated as a source. A named human editor is responsible for the final wording, checks practical claims against maps or authoritative sources, and decides whether a page is ready to be indexed.
